AI Benchmark · LEB · next series · proposed

This is one of the two tracks of the next series. The other is LEB Security.

One of the two tracks of the next LEB series: the everyday maintenance of a working system. The agent works on a system with maintenance flaws planted in it, and nothing in the task asks for security work. How LEB works today, and how its levels differ, is on the Benchmark page.

The cases so far

Each configuration is run on system A, 90 minutes at most per run. While an instance is active only its aggregate is published: no per-flaw result, no verdict, no delivery.

Comment and details

One run of a case of five scored 831 (Gold). It completed inside the 90-minute budget, at about US$ 7.47 and 37 minutes, and it did not break a behavior the public tests protect (compatibility 100). Bug fixing was the strongest area (195 of 213), then performance (186 of 213), architecture (214 of 283) and clean code (91 of 141). The report was rated 45 of 50. It is one system, so how the configuration does across systems is not measured yet. The blind judges agreed on almost every item, and a person settled the rest. The other four runs are still to be made, so the figure will move.

Per run, on average: US$ 2.64 and 36 minutes.

Comment and details

One run of a case of five scored 541 (Bronze). It completed inside the 90-minute budget, at about US$ 2.64 (the client's own estimate) and 36 minutes, and it did not break a behavior the public tests protect (compatibility 100). Bug fixing was the strongest area (159 of 213), then performance (131 of 213), architecture (89 of 283) and clean code (20 of 141). The report was rated 42 of 50. It is one system, so how the configuration does across systems is not measured yet. The blind judges agreed on almost every item, and a person settled the rest. The other four runs are still to be made, so the figure will move. It ran with the client's auto-approval flag, an exception to the series' rule against bypassing approvals (see the notes).

Two runs of a case of five, between 499 and 578, mean 538 (the interval, 499 to 578, is the range of the two), all Bronze. The blind judges agreed on almost every item, and a person settled the rest. The other three are still to be made, so the figures will move. Some runs ran with the client's default permissions and some with its auto-approval flag (see the notes).

  • 2 of 2 scheduled attempts completed with the requested model. Systems on which every attempt completed: 1 of 1.
  • Expected score per scheduled attempt: 283.0 (275.0 to 291.0).
  • Blocked: 0 (at the start 0, during the work 0). Budget exhausted: 0. Switched: 0. Lost to the lab or the operator, rerun: 1.

What this track measures

Architecture, bugs, performance, code quality and compatibility. No vulnerability is planted, and the task asks for no security work.

The code it starts from is described as "no known vulnerabilities within the reviewed scope", never as free of them.

The Default and Security scores of a configuration are shown side by side and never added.

Where the series stands

The next series is a proposal: its design was decided on 12 October 2026, and its normative texts (the spec, the protocol, the scoring and the levels) are written after a pilot has validated the process. The pilot has begun on system A, and its cases so far are above. It changes nothing in LEB-100 or LEB-300, whose results stay as published. There is no scoreboard yet: it needs more configurations and more systems.

The reference systems

Each track is measured on several reference systems, and each system yields both tracks: two planting profiles of the same clean code. The same letter is the same system. The pilot will have 3 systems; the evaluation set, about 6.

How a case runs

A case is one system, one track and one agent configuration.

  1. 5 runs per case, and all of them count.

  2. The requested model is pinned in the client, in the main conversation and in every subagent, so that no substitute can answer.

  3. An automated lab runs each case, from the restoration of the machine to the filing of the evidence.

What will be published

For each configuration and track:

  • the quality of the evaluable deliveries, with its uncertainty interval;
  • the completion rate with the requested model;
  • the expected score per scheduled attempt;
  • blocks (at the start and during the work), model switches, exhausted budgets and lab failures, each counted separately.

The answer key

The answer key of an instance is published on GitHub with the instance, before its first run, and the machines that run the agents cannot reach GitHub. Each run also records the model's training cutoff, for what a model may have seen in training.

Comparison

A score of the next series is never set beside one of LEB-100 or LEB-300.
